On 8–9 October 2025, the 10th PREVON conference, the largest professional meeting in the field of prevention and screening, took place in Prague. The National Screening Center presented the current outcomes of screening programs, changes in preventive examinations from 2026 and main topics including colorectal screening, early detection of lung cancer and 50 years of newborn laboratory screening.
The conference lasted 2 days and on the first day there were 3 parts.
The first part was focused on the activities of the National Screening Centre, as a centre that is supporting screening programs in the Czech Republic, but also as an information technology centre. At the same time, changes in preventive examinations by general practitioners from 2026 were presented.
The second part was dedicated to the 25th years of colorectal cancer screening in the Czech Republic. New developments in colorectal cancer screening were presented, including the change of the age limit to 45-74 years from 2026 (until now the colorectal cancer screening was for people aged 50+). There was also presented the data collection and evaluation of colorectal screening in the Czech Republic, the role of the general practitioner, immunochemical tests in colorectal cancer screening and the practical perspective of a gastroenterologist.
The third part was focused on the Czech Republic as a pioneer in lung cancer screening in Europe, and summarized the results and strategies for evaluating the pilot phase of the program, the role of the general practitioner and pulmonologist, and the role of the radiologist in lung cancer screening.
The second day was dedicated to newborn laboratory screening in the Czech Republic and focused on the past, present and future of this screening.
