New Scientific Evidence Strengthens the EU Code Against Cancer

The International Agency for Research on Cancer published new scientific papers outlining the evidence base behind the European Code Against Cancer, 5th edition (ECAC5).

The Code has been published in The Lancet Regional Health – Europe.

The publications summarize updated research on lifestyle, environmental, and infectious risk factors linked to cancer and explain how this evidence informs prevention recommendations.

 

Prevention Strategies

The Code translates complex epidemiological findings into practical guidance for individuals and policymakers, supporting national cancer prevention strategies. The work highlights the importance of tobacco control, vaccination, healthy diet, physical activity, and reduced exposure to carcinogens.
