On the occasion of World Cancer Day (4 February 2026), the EUCanScreen partner in the Republic of Moldova — IMSP Institutul Oncologic (IMSPIO) — carried out public awareness and dissemination activities focused on cancer prevention and early detection.
Dr. Ruslan Baltaga, Director of IMSP Institutul Oncologic (IMSPIO) and National Coordinator of the EU-co-funded EUCanScreen project, was invited live on the national television channel Moldova 1 during the morning program “Bună Dimineața.” The main topic of the broadcast was cancer prevention, and among other subjects discussed were the objectives of the EUCanScreen project, the benefits of IMSPIO’s participation in the consortium, and the importance of international knowledge exchange. The intervention highlighted opportunities for medical professionals from the Republic of Moldova to learn about and apply modern screening methodologies used by EU partners.
The national TV appearance supported broad public dissemination, helping deliver key prevention and screening messages to a nationwide audience and raising awareness about the added value of Moldova’s participation in EU thematic health programmes.
In parallel, IMSP Institutul Oncologic (IMSPIO) hosted a World Cancer Day event titled “United for Uniqueness – Survivors Speak.” Cancer survivors, healthcare professionals, academics, artists, and public figures shared personal experiences and messages of hope and resilience. Discussions emphasized the importance of psychological support, community solidarity, trust in evidence-based medicine, and timely diagnosis.
