'Pink the City 2026'

EUCanScreen Joint Action takes part in 'Pink the City 2026' with the 6th DYPEDE

Pink The City 2026

The The 6th Health Region (6th DYPEDE) had a significant presence at ‘Pink the City 2026‘ in Patras, with an information booth for the European Joint Action EUCanScreen. The initiative formed part of the major annual event organised by the ‘Alma Zois’ Association of Patras, which aims to inform the public, promote prevention and raise awareness of breast cancer.

Handmade items carrying a symbolic message about breast cancer awareness and prevention were distributed at the booth, alongside information leaflets on the goals and activities of EUCanScreen.

During the event, Mr. A. Vantarakis, Professor of Hygiene at the Laboratory of Hygiene, Department of Medicine, University of Patras, and Scientific Responsible of the European programme EUCanScreen, outlined the key aspects of EUCanScreen: informing and raising awareness among citizens, encouraging participation in recommended screening, and reducing inequalities regarding breast cancer prevention.

Finally, Ms S. Kratimenou, Head of the Directorate for the Planning and Development of Health Policies at the 6th DYPEDE, spoke about the importance of organised screening programmes, highlighting their role in the early detection of disease, in reaching target population groups and in ensuring equitable access to preventive services for all citizens.
