Video: WHO Europe Urges Cancer Warnings on Alcohol Labels
On 3 July 2025, WHO/Europe proposed that all alcoholic beverages sold in the EU carry clear warnings about cancer risks. The recommendation is based on consolidated data linking alcohol consumption to several cancers, including liver, breast, and colorectal cancers.
Transparency for Informed Choices
The initiative aims to increase consumer awareness. Some member states, such as Ireland, are already implementing similar regulations. WHO encourages harmonized rules at the European level by incorporating warnings directly into product labels.
