IARC, in collaboration with the Joint Research Centre (JRC), published the first official set of recommendations for cervical cancer screening in the European Union. The guidelines suggest prioritizing HPV testing as the primary method, redefining the target age group (25–65 years), and improving monitoring systems. The aim is to optimize preventive interventions, avoid unnecessary screenings in non-indicated age groups, and ensure equity and cost-effectiveness across national health systems.
The EC-CvC aims to update cervical cancer screening guidelines to inform patients, health professionals, and policy-makers.
