Ireland is committed to delivering world-class cancer screening services. Our involvement in the EUCanScreen Joint Action and partnership with other member states and IARC is a key enabler of this. Our approach is deeply collaborative, engaging patients, the public, clinicians, researchers, and international partners to shape the future of screening. This vision is underpinned by the principles of equity, transparency, and partnership and is fully aligned with the 2022 Council Recommendation on Cancer Screening and the EU Beating Cancer Plan, which form the backbone of EUCanScreen.
Ireland’s ambition is clear: to lead in delivering equitable, innovative, and collaborative cancer screening services that save lives and set a benchmark for excellence across Europe. By aligning national strategies with EU priorities and leveraging our research strengths, we will ensure that every person in Ireland benefits from the best possible screening care—today and into the future.
